Can I self-host instead?
Absolutely — self-hosting is our free tier. Fossys Boards is MIT-licensed and always will be. Clone the repo, run
docker compose up, and you have the full product on your own infrastructure with unlimited boards, unlimited users, and all features. We sell managed hosting and support, not the software itself.What happens when my trial ends?
After your 14-day trial, your workspace is paused until you subscribe or export your data. Nothing gets deleted. You can also self-host at any time — export your data and import it into your own instance. No surprise charges.
How does AI work?
Paste a paragraph, meeting notes, or a rough idea into the AI input box and Fossys Boards will parse it into structured tasks with titles, descriptions, labels, and suggested assignees. You bring your own Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI API key — add it in workspace settings and you control your own usage and costs.
Do I need my own AI API key?
Yes. Fossys Boards works with Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI. You add your API key in workspace settings. We never see or store your key server-side — it is sent directly from your browser.
Can I import my Trello boards?
Yes. We support one-click imports from Trello, Asana, Notion, and Jira. Export a JSON or CSV from your current tool, upload it in Fossys Boards, and we will map your columns, cards, labels, and assignees automatically. Most imports take under a minute.
Is my data private?
On our cloud platform, your data is stored in isolated PostgreSQL schemas per workspace. We do not train AI models on your data, sell it, or share it with third parties. All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). If you need full control, self-host — the code is open source and you can audit every line.
